Corton 0-1 Horsford

A home defeat to Horsford was quite a shock for Corton but the travelling greens got exactly what they deserved, and it was another three points lost for the struggling whites. Corton again turned out with what looked to be a very strong squad of players but the performance level and intensity of the play which saw such a successful start to the season has disappeared. The first half display was the one of Cortons worst, never able to get into the fixture from the first whistle. Goal keeper Aaron Denning fortunately did turn up and saved the whites on numerous occasions, two top draw saves enabled the home team to go into the interval at 0-0. With the shape of the whites changed at half time, Corton at least began to see some of the play, however against the run of play Horsford produced there best move of the match which ended with a tap in for the away side’s striker. It was nothing more than deserved after there first 45 minutes display. Eventually the home team started to show some spirit, with all three substitutes coming on Oldman, Hammersley and Jermy, Corton suddenly had a bit more bite. Set plays looked the only possibility of breaking the greens backline who looked comfortable the whole game. Corton huffed and puffed and did show good character in the last 25 minutes but it was too little to late. No league fixture for 3 weeks for the whites and the tables could be all turned by the time they return to action in the division, but a tough cup tie at home to Ridgeon’s side Whitton United on December 3rd will hopefully see a better performance and get the whites season kick started again.

Caister 0-2 Corton

Corton had there shortest away trip of the season to face local rivals Caister. The game wasn’t pretty but a good disciplined defensive display saw the whites come away with the much needed three points. Caister should have found there selves one up inside the opening thirty seconds of the game, a sloppy back pass saw Caister's Nick Crawley race clear only to be stopped by Aaron Denning in the Corton goal. Aaron was back in goal for the first team after some solid displays in the reserves this season, and he certainly looked as if he had a point to prove to the Corton management team. The visitors settled after the initial five minutes of panic and began to get a grip of the game. Great link up play between High and Oldman ended when Kev Oldman's effort crashing off the underside of the bar and out to safety, this lifted the whites and they pressed to find the opener. With Dale Wilson and Jason Hall winning the midfield battle the goal came. Bloomfield picked up the ball, travelled thirty yards then released High down the left hand side, with one touch taken he only had one thing in his mind and smashed the ball past the keeper and into the bottom corner. The home side’s heads were down and it didn’t take long for the whites to make it two. Again Ryan Bloomfield involved, this time it was Paul Hunter who was the sharpest as he passed into the empty net on his second attempt. Caister had a couple of corners but the back four of Corton looked solid as the half came to a close.
The opening twenty minutes of the second period was pretty uneventful as both teams cancelled each other out. With twenty minutes remaining Arni High was pulled down by the defender as he looked to be racing clear thirty yards from goal, rather than play the advantage the referee hastily blew up for a free kick which saw new signing Troy Jacobs debut goal disallowed. However the tackle that earned the free kick saw Caister’s number six see his second yellow of the afternoon and sent from the field of play. For the remained of the fixture it was the ten men of Caister who really had the better of the play but good goalkeeping and a solid defensive display from the whites made sure they came away with all three points. Corton gladly back to winning ways and right in amongst the teams inside the top six of division one, but need better quality keeping possession and finishing teams off.

Corton 1-4 Hellesdon

A disciplined display from Corton but the away side went away worthy winners. Clinical finishing was the difference Saturday as the travelling blue from Hellesdon simply scoring from four of there five shots they had in this game. As in previous weeks the whites started brightly and were on top in the opening twenty minutes or so, chances were not clear cut but perhaps making the Hellesdon keeper work slightly harder could of beneficial. Hellesdon broke down the play inside there own box and smartly broke down the right hand side as there fast wingers looked to take full advantage of the space in behind the Corton back line. Defended well from young Jordan Harper but the away side had there first corner of the game, from which the opener came. For the first time this season Corton conceded from a corner to the disappointment of the coaching staff, a header from six yards was enough to put the blues one up after twenty five minutes had been played. Within five crazy minutes the game was drifting away from Corton as Hellesdon went three up. The second was a calamity as Highs clearance was deflected back off the ref and straight into the path of the striker who calmly slotted past home. The third very similar but this time it was a good pass from the midfielder that sent the winger clear, once again an excellent finish and Corton who had more of the play found themselves three down and a mountain to climb. On the stroke of half time the referee must have felt guilty for his through ball earlier in the half as he awarded the home side a controversial penalty. Ryan Bloomfield stepped up and gave Corton a bit of hope to come out to in the second half by smashing his effort into the bottom corner.
With the whites looking to try salvage something out of this league fixture were rapid straight from the off and within thirty seconds of the re-start Arni High found himself one on one with the keeper, with his shot blocked it fell to Kevin Oldman who’s shot was again blocked, this time falling to Quinn French who’s control let him down, and a glorious opportunity at the beginning of the half was gone. Five minutes passed and Hellesdon sealed the three points. With Gooch off his line his clearance didn’t manage to make touch, with Gooch out of position the winger chased the ball to keep it in play before attempting goal from forty yards, his effort was not quite powerful enough but the gambling striker out jumped the White defender to simply head into an empty net. However with the fixture all but over Cortons effort and desire to keep going was great to see and every player battled to the end showing great attitude. Five shots four goals, that was the difference Saturday, a new addition of a striker has to be the main aim from the backroom staff at Corton if they wish to stay in touch with the top five of the division. Perhaps this Saturdays local derby with Caister will see Corton get the rub of the green in there favour and back to winning ways.

Norwich Ceymes 2-1 Corton

> A missed oppurnity for Corton to push closer to the top spot in diversion 1 as the other teams around also faced defeat. Disappointment was the words of the Whites backroom staff, in another game where poor defending and mistakes proved costly once again. However Corton started this fixture much the better of the two and may of seen themselves three up within the opening twenty minutes. Slater was flying down the left and Arni High with strike partner Jake Armes were becoming a real handful for the home defence. Ames header from all of eighteen yards rebounded of the cross bar and Slaters deflected effort was expertly tipped around the post by the Ceymes keeper. The whites did get there rewards in the twenty-fifth minute, Armes found himself one on one but the keeper again did well but this time he only managed to push his save into the path of Kevin Oldman who calmly finished. Ceymes had to raise there performance and the goal did see a reaction from the home team. Only five minutes passed and the barely untroubled Gooch was picking the ball out of his goal. A simple direct free kick that the Corton backline should have been able to defend was flicked on by a white head and into the path of Ceymes number 9 who flicked his header past Gooch. Unlike Ceyemes reaction to conceding a goal, Corton simply got worse as the game continued. Experienced heads within the Corton team simply letting themselves and the team down.
> As the second half kicked off with the game still one a piece it was Ceymes who looked the more dangerous. Within the opening few minutes the home side came close on two occasions. As the fixture progressed it certainly had draw written all over it as neither team wanted to lose this game. With only seven minutes remaining things dramatically changed. A lofted ball was met by the Corton centre half who instead of clearing the ball he played a pass to his defensive partner, as he was pressed from Ceymes striker his attempted back pass turned into a weighted pass for the home sides substitute to run on and slot past the helpless Gooch. This did spur the away side on. A frantic last six or seven minutes saw Corton with two penalty shouts and two chances cleared off the line, but it was a case of to little to late as Ceymes hung on for the three points.
> For the first time this season the whites let their selves down, a better attitude and team spirit is required if they wish to achieve anything this season, silly mistakes and lack of communication is costly in senior football, but hopefully the Whites can learn from this.

Acle United 3-2 Corton

Corton faced an very good Acle side in this weeks Ko cup, United are currently unbeaten this campaign and have a team brimming with quality but Corton certainly gave them a fright in this cup tie. A first half display from the whites was the best they have produced under the management team this term, and deservedly went in one up at the break.
Corton made two changers from last week, Ryan Bloomfield was back after suspension and Luke Slater returned from injury. The opening half hour had gone and the home supporters were stunned, with United struggling to get any grip of the game they became under increasing pressure. Ryan Bloomfield took complete control of the middle of the park dancing through challenges and picking out Slater numerous times. Arni High was his usual menace up top while the back line looked like a brick wall. Chances were coming, Hunter put his effort just the wrong side of the post, and the aerial ability of Dale Wilson saw him just fractions away on two occasions. Finally twenty five in and the whites resilience paid off, again Bloomfield picked the ball up, he lost his man and delivered a low drilled cross right across the face of the goal, the goal keeper managed to push it away from goal but straight to his centre half who sliced into his own net. A deserved lead and the whites continued to press and look for the second, a succession of corners where defended desperately by United, then at the end of the half Cortons Matty Gooch had his first scare. Ritchi High slipped when defending and the right winger tried to capitalise, he drove in from the right before snatching at his effort and firing wide of the up right.
Five minutes into the second half and it was clear to see Acle were not going to lie down, a massive raise in tempo and effort and it was now a proper cup tie. This half was the opposite, with the whites struggling to keep possession and becoming under intense pressure. The electric right winger raced clear one on one with Gooch diving to his right Gooch produced an outstanding save to keep the whites narrowly in the lead. Seventy minutes gone and the home fans had something to cheer about, misjudged heading from Cortons centre half gave the winger again involved pick out his number nine at the back post and he couldn’t fail from three yards out. With the tides turning it didn’t take long before United’s second, similar to the first, defence and goalkeeper mix ups led to an empty net for the winger to tap into. Whites were out of steam and with six minutes on the clock to play the tie was all but over as Acle hit there third. However, as in every fixture this season the whites refuse to be beaten, a lay off from Arni High was met by Kevin Oldman who beat the keeper to the ball and stroked it underneath him. With two or three minutes remaining the travellers gave all they had but the experience and ability of United saw out the tie and it was there name going into the hat for the next round of the Ko cup. A display of real quality from Corton shocked the hosts who were extremely surprised of the ability and effort of this Corton team, who can hopefully take this level of performance into a crucial away trip to Norwich Ceymes in the league this Saturday.

Hindringham 1-2 Corton

Another long journey for Corton, but a decent all round display sees them return home with a much needed three points. The opening half was spoilt by some really poor referring decisions, and at least ten players from either team were in the refs note book in a half that hadn’t seen a bad or late tackle in the first forty five minutes. It was a good competitive game but the away side were edging the battle. New signing Karl Ainsley was impressive every time he had the ball at his feet, looking to open up the defence. A snap shot from hunter was narrowly wide when perhaps he should of done better, and Jake Armes done everything right going around the keeper but his effort was cleared off the line from the stripes defender. Corton were buoyant and pressed for the opener on the half hour mark a series of free kicks and corners and the net was rippled. Delivered by Ainsley from the right saw Ritchi High do what he does best, climbing above all defenders and powered his header home from eight yards. Confidence was high and the away side dominated the remaining five minutes of the half.
Corton started the second half exactly where the left off, keeping good possession and extremely solid at the back. The second goal soon came. Ainsley again the provider, this time to the other High on the field, Arni. A timed run and a defence splitting pass left High one on one with the keeper, High calmly slotted his effort past the number one and into the bottom corner. The home side’s heads seem to have dropped and the travellers looked to finish off the job, a ten minute spell of three glorious chances fell to High, Daniels and Hunter but neither had the finishing touch. The best effort of the game smacked straight off the woodwork. Improved Dale Wilson found himself in acres of space forty yards from goal, he carried the ball ten yards before unleashing a terrific drive, and with the keeper stood still he watched as the ball smash off the cross bar and back into play. With only five minutes remaining the home side snatched one back and made it a nervy end to the game. And individual effort from there left winger got the goal when he struck a low drive from twenty yards to beat the helpless Gooch. Two late corners were defended well from Corton before the final whistle was blown. A very good team performance and attitude shown from Corton and the three points pushed them up a place to second in the division. With an extremely tough fixture in the cup this Saturday to premier high flyers Acle United Corton must be as good if not better if they wish to proceed into the next round.

Corton 0-0 Holt United

Another point gained for the whites in a fixture where the game nether really got going. Very few opportunities were created by either team and both goalkeepers were without a save. The opening half started with a midfield battle and the whites slightly edged it with Dale Wilson winning every header. The best chance did come for the whites, Jake Armes latched onto a through ball but he was quickly met by the keeper. Armes managed to get a toe onto the ball but it hit the keeper in the midriff as he was smartly off his line. Both defences looked solid, Holt tried beating the off side trap but the United striker was unable to time his runs. Half time came and Corton management tried to lift there team as they asked for a raise in tempo. The opening five minutes of the second 45 were the home side’s best spell. Arni High who came on ten minutes before half time looked the most likely to make the breakthrough. A turn and shot inside the box was directed straight into the keeper’s arms, and a header from 6 yards was only slightly over the crossbar. Corton were awarded a free kick 20 yards from goal, Oldman managed to get the ball up and over the wall but unfortunatly was a whisker wide of the upright. The whites had slightly more attacking threat than Holt for the remainder of the game but neither team found the net.
Two successive draws for Corton keeps them third in the table but if they have an eye on promotion this season they must be creating more in front of goal and winning these types of fixtures.

Reepham Town 1-1 Corton

A point gained from Cortons point of view this weekend, as the came from behind with only ten minutes remaining on the watch. On a day where temperatures were hitting the late twenties it was never going to be a game of high tempo. The home side started the brighter of the two, keeping good possession of the ball. The reds squandered three good opportunities in the first quarter before the whites really woke up. With the game still 0-0 Corton had the best chance of the game. Paul Hunter raced clear of the defence, he managed to get his shot away but was caught be the keeper and the covering defended hocked away off the line. Some how the home number one managed to stay on the field and a poor referring decision also saw Corton with out a penalty kick. As the half closed Reephams most dangerous player, seven went close again, riding three challenges but only managed to fire straight at Gooch.
The second half of this league fixture saw Corton much improved. The back line of Harper, Smith, High and Bloomfield looked solid and the whites settled down. Kevin Oldman and Luke Slater looked the likeliest to make the breakthrough but both players were not selfish enough in front of goal. With only nine minutes remaining it was the home side who grabbed the lead. Reephams right winger finished of a slick move by the reds and the three points up for grabs were slipping away. Travelling Corton showed great character, and as seem in previous weeks refused to lie down. Ritchi Highs mazy thirty yard run ended when he was brought down twenty five yards from goal. White shirts pilled into the box in search of an equaliser, a back post delivery from Oldman picked out High who rose above all and headed goal wards. Under the cross bar was new Signing Scotty Daniels who managed to head in on his debut after coming on off the bench. The midfield of Jones, Wilson and Hall all worked tirelessly in the remaining minutes as Corton saw the game out and came away with a good Point against a tidy Reepham Town.

Corton 2-1 Long Straton

Corton hung on in this fixture to a gritty Long Straton, but the home side were able to collect all three points. The whites never really got going in this game and a better performance will be needed if they are going to see off Reepham away this coming Saturday. With the whites being pushed back for most of the first 45 minutes they managed to find themselves two up at the interval. Corton were awarded a free kick 40 yards from goal, and lofted delivery was met by Ritchi High who headed back across goal to find the head of Slater, the smallest player on the pitch guided his effort past the keeper from ten yards. Only twelve minutes were played and the whites were one up. The away team had most of the play but were unable to create any real opportunity in the first half, they were then caught out with a breakaway goal on the stroke of half time. Ritchi High was again involved, linking up with Kevin Oldman down the right whose excellent low driven cross was met by Luke Slater who managed poke the ball home for his and Cortons second.
A change in formation for the second period was made by the whites with the hope of gaining more possession. The home team came out of the blocks much brighter and began to compete with the reds. An individual run down the left from Slater saw him one on one with the goal keeper. Having beaten the keeper his effort somehow managed to stay out, hitting the inside of the post, the ball then travelled across the goal line before being collected by the desperate keeper. Surely the game would have been over. This seemed to spur Straton on once again and the travellers believed they were still in this game. Five more minutes passed and they found a breakthrough, Cortons back line were all over the place and two simple passes found the number 9 whose attempt bounced in past Gooch. With fifteen remaining it really was backs against the wall for the whites as Long Straton battled for the equaliser. Gritty determination and defenders putting there bodies on the line made sure the home team get there third successive win.

Watton 0-5 Corton

After the previous weeks cup victory at home to Hempnal Corton were back on there travels with a tough away league fixture to the unbeaten Watton. On arrival to the sports ground we were met by the very impressive turf what we were about to embrace for the next 90 minutes, undoubtedly the best pitch in the division.
With confidence up the whites started this fixture extremely well and had all of the play in the opening quarter. Corton continually pressed the greens back and it didn’t take long to break the dead lock. Ryan Bloomfield picked the ball up 40 yards from goal glided through two challenges before unleashing a low 20 yard effort which found the bottom corner. The second shortly followed. Arni High again involved as he was all afternoon picked out Kevin Oldman with a delightful reverse pass who simply had one touch then rolled the ball past the helpless keeper. Just as proven over the previous week if you work hard you also get the rub of the green. A simple back pass to the out of sorts number 1 of Watton was the start of Cortons third. Right on the stroke of half time Arni High closed the keeper down and the number ones silky skills weren’t going to fool High who easily tackled and had the easiest of finishes. Corton went in three up but due to the up right and some last ditch defending the away side could have been out of site.
It was important to start the second half strongly and they did exactly that. Working hard in midfield were Hunter, Hall and Bloomfield covering every inch of the carpet we were playing on, and just as reliant were the back four of Bloomfield, High, Hammo and Smith. The game was all but finished when Corton were rewarded with a penalty with 20 minutes remaining. Bloomfield coolly dispatched. Cortons subs Zagdan and Armes came on and both made an impact. With only minutes left Oldman and Bloomfield combined down the right before the ball was met at the front post by Jake Armes who expertly finished the job.
Good performance all round from the travelling whites, again with the new and young Corton management travelling home learning lessons and gaining valuable experience at a senior level.

Corton 2-0 Hempnal

An opening round cup draw to premier side Hempnal was always going to be a difficult tie for league one side Corton, but a solid and much improved Corton side found their selves progress into the second round.
Compared to the whites previous weeks efforts, what a contrast it was to watch. Corton turned out with the correct attitude from the first whistle, and were competing in every area of the field. The first half was pretty evenly matched, although Corton were able to find the breakthrough just as half time approached. A simple and direct clearance from defender Stuart Bloomfield was attacked by the ever busy Arni High. The strength and power of High was to much for the visitors to handle, a sublime first touch from High lost the three defenders surrounding him and even the on rushing keeper was unable to stop a finish of which was the highest quality. Terrific.
As the teams began the restart it was Corton who had taken control of the game, looking much more assured and confidence was up. Ten minutes in and it was two. A Ryan Bloomfield free kick was terribly defended from the visitors and Kevin Oldman found himself with the easiest of tap-in. The premier side Hempnal were not to give in and continued to battle throughout. Defending from Corton was a strong as we had seen this term with High and S.Bloomfield taking full control. Chances still came for the whites as Hempnal looked to try get back into this cup tie. Busy Luke Slater found himself one on one but he couldn’t quite find the target. Unfortunatly both teams ended up with ten men as a minor square up between R.Bloomfield and the opposing number 8 saw them both see a red card.
Overall a much better display from the home side, with lessons learnt from previous weeks which is always encouraging to see. Corton now have another tough tie away to Acle in the second round, not to be worried by this though as the whites seem to play much better against the stronger oppositions.

Brandon Town 4-1 Corton

Cortons first defeat this season came unexpectedly to Brandon Town. Perhaps the away travellers approached this fixture with the wrong attitude, believing this game was won before a ball was even kicked, it didn’t take long before reality sunk in for the whites.
A very poor opening half hour from Corton and Brandon found themselves two up, sloppy defending all round was the cause of the opener, and a disputable penalty was dispatched from the reds captain. The second was easy, and no better from the away team who hadn’t seemed to of left their changing room. The reds winger simply picked the ball up, ran through the centre of the pitch with no challenge and unleashed a 30 yard effort. Matty Gooch produced an outstanding save to tip this effort onto the bar, no different to the previous 29 minutes in this fixture Cortons back line looked as if they were having there own little picnic in the 18 yard box and failed to react to the rebound, unlike Brandons striker who headed home un challenged. A reaction at last. Straight from the restart Corton became much better, more grit and determination and suddenly the whites looked a little dangerous. Without troubling the orange figure in the Brandon goal Corton where at least creating chances, headers from set pieces produced there best efforts. With 25 remaining Ryan Bloomfield’s mazy run inside the box came to an end as he was hacked down. Kevin Oldman excellently finished from the spot kick and the whites had a shout. With the travellers slightly on top the home team were anxious and were trying to halt every Corton attack by any means. A rash challenge saw Brandon’s centre midfielder get a red card as the whites looked to take full advantage of this.
A tactical switch proved to be the wrong choice from Cortons management, chasing a goal in the final third of the game, they reverted to three in defence and three in attack. With the white defenders in unfamiliar positions this caused nothing but chaos. Brandon not wanting to let a two goal lead slip from them battled on and took full advantage, grabbing another two goals in quick succession to wrap up three points to the delight of the spectators.
Corton must learn from this all round, taking the wrong approach to a game and making silly mistakes will be costly in this division, but a Brandon team who you wouldn’t expect to see in the top half were strong, worked extremely hard and had a great desire to win thoroughly deserved the three points they gained.

Bradenham Wanderers 1-1 Corton
Corton remain unbeaten this campaign with a decent point away to Bradenham. It was along trip for the whites but they certainly didn’t this let it effect them as they began the game very brightly. Corton looked sharp straight from the first whistle and they didn’t take long to unlock the home side. Ian Hunter won a corner down the right after a mazy run, from which the opener came. A perfect back post corner from Ryan Bloomfield was met by Richi High at the back post who guided his header back across goal to find the head of Hunter who made no mistake for his second goal in as many games. One up and Corton continued to press dominating the opening half, a good chance fell to high but he was unable to hit the target and shot wide while unbalanced. The defence of Harper, Zagdan and two Bloomfields looked comfortable and rarely troubled in the first half as Corton went in one up.
The second half started much the same as the first, the whites looking very bright in the first ten minutes and creating chances. Three successive corners were just about dealt with by the oranges and a terrific free kick from Bloomfield was met by an equally good save from the home number one. However this seemed to sound the alarm bells ringing for the home team as there approach towards the game somewhat changed. The tempo was raised and the game soon turned. No longer were the Corton defence having an easy ride as the home side applied pressure pumping balls high down the throats of the travellers. Unable to ride out the storm the equaliser came, a good move and cross from the left was met by the Wanderers number seven who calmly volleyed home from four yards. Corton had a game on there hands, not wanting to throw away a good sixty minute performance which they had in this game they battled on. Chances were few and far between in the final twenty minutes as both teams cancelled each other out. Gooch was called into action late on but dealt with the effort well pushing the headed attempt round the post. Overall both teams would agree a draw was a fair result however if Corton could of only found the net when they were on top to increase their lead they may of found themselves coming away with more than a point.

Corton 3-2 Dersingham Rovers

Corton started of the new season with an encouraging victory over the former premier side Dersingham Rovers. Under new management and with new additions to the squad Corton seemed to be in much stronger position from the previous season.
The opening ten minutes were pretty uneventful with both teams not wanting to give anything easily away. As play went on Corton seem to settle into the game and players became more relaxed and started to play some of the football which has been seen pre season from the whites. Twenty minutes in the lively new youngster Ian Hunter bust down the right, after riding the challenge of the on rushing defender he picked out Ritchi High who swivelled ten yards from goal, he then found himself on the deck as the clumsy defender hauled him down and Corton were awarded a penalty. Up stepped another addition this season Ryan Bloomfield who calmly dispatched the spot kick. The lead how ever was short lived, a moment to forget for the Corton keeper. Matty Gooch dwelled on the ball ten Yards from goal and the Dersingham striker took full advantage, tackling the keeper then simply slotting into the empty net. The whites however didn’t let this affect them and got back to the game plan. At the end of the first half Corton came in pretty disappointed at the one all score line having missed several decent opportunities. Ian Hunter had hit the bar, quick Luke Slater raced clear only to be halted by the opposite number one and a string of fine saves had kept Dersingham in this fixture.
Corton started the second period where they had left off, fast and direct attacks were proving too much for the defence of the travellers. A route one clearance was misjudged from the experienced back line of the reds and new boy Hunter coolly lifted the ball over the keeper and got his well deserved goal. Barely five minutes had passed and Corton went 3-1 up. A beautifully taken free kick was matched by a terrific header from the make shift striker High. The whites seemed to be enjoining their selves now, perhaps a little to much as the concentration of the back line was effected. A missed clearance and a lunge from Cortons number 8 inside the box gave Dersingham a life line. The penalty was awarded and the visitors found themselves back in the game with twenty minutes left on the clock. The mood had changed and Corton were back peddling. The visitors were applying all the pressure for the final third of this opening day fixture but Cortons gritty determination paid off. Gooch made up for his earlier mistake with a couple of decent saves and the substitutes contributed well.
Overall a good performance and a good three points against a tall and experienced Dersingham Rovers. Corton will play better this season without any doubt but new additions along with the experienced Corton faithful looks like it will be an exciting season ahead.

Pre Season training at Corton has started and looks like we will be a strong outfit this season. With the club deciding to back the new managers plans, in two professional FA coaches to complete sessions on Monday and Wednesday each week it looks like the club will be in good stead for the new season. Training has been top class and well attended with some new faces in attendance which from a players point of view is good to see! Several friendlies against higher league opposition have been arranged i hear as well. All in all a good start to the season for Corton!

Corton res 6 - 0 wells town res

corton have started this season very strong with three consecutive wins and a maximum nine points, and all the pre season effort seems to be paying off.

corton started saturdays game much stronger than their opposition wells town, confidence was high and chances were soon arising. after ten minutes corton had there first chance, after a free flowing move across the pitch young luke slater provided a pin point cross to simon cambridge but he could only guide his header over the cross bar. on 30 minutes scott bellis was fouled on the edge of the box, his free kick deflected into the path of aaron forman who slotted home off the defenders out stretched leg. corton went in one up at half time but should of been more, wells town were reduced to 10 on the stroke of half time for a second yellow card for the defender.

corton came out of the blocks well second half and soon added a second, a cute back heel from bellis found the path of slater who drilled the ball past the wells keeper. corton started enjoying their selves, forman guided his second in form 18 yards before completing his hat trick dancing round three defenders inside the box and volleying home. chances were coming thick and fast, and the very impressive young ben o'dwyer was unlucky not to be on the score sheet. slater got himself a brace with a mazy run and a calm finish, then bezza got his well earned goal and finished the job for corton with a superb volley from 20 yards. corton looked strong and well balanced with some extremely positive youngsters on show. mom ben o'dwyer

i spoke to quinn this week and he needs a minor op on his knee and also spoke to 4 other players to try and strengthen our squad for next season also the club is trying to get moved to the other pitch up corton and we are also trying to move our training time to a earlier slot . so me and steve are trying our best to get things turned round cheers super spurs ( champions league) !!!!

you missed out quinny mate he was top draw up top til he got inj. hope lessons have been learnt and we will fight for a top spot next season, people have to give 100% from start not just come in when it suits,myself included

its been a long hard season at corton and my view of this season is we satarted the season with the best squad i have worked with but with long term injuries to high,burgess,cambridge,dawesand kev o also players leaving the club for one reason or another like pike,salmon,wilkinson,barber and bloomfield i think steve has done a great job to get fourth with all these players missing !!!! but i feel we have not produced the goods this year and need to sign some fresh talent to push the club forward . training sessions were great but as we fell out of cups and league titles people gave up and i can honestly say training was well organized and i tryed to keep it interesting . to the season

sadly last game of the season ended in defeat !! call offs and players injured meant we could only call on 12 players with fletch and lewis coming into the team . also with richie high going off with fractured arm just before the break we had a up hill battle.but second half we played well and should have been level .but lady luck didnt shine on us and then from a corner went 2 nil down . well done to the lads who played and gave it there all . have a good summer off !!!!

a disappointing night against poringland we started very poorly one nil down after 2 mins and a real harsh pen given against us for handball the ref made some funny decisions all through the game . we managed to get one back just before half time through kev o . second half we played better but again got court on the break and leon scored a screammer of a own goal and then kev o scored a pen for us . we had chances again to get back in the match but failed to take them . to be honest we didnt prepare to get up for the game and 5 players had a very poor match which is rare for this to happen doe any one agree or disagree with me blogs please .

on a sunny but windy day corton played 6th placed wymondham at home both teams battled well with corton having 2 one on ones with the keeper but we missed both !!!! the second half was much better we got our passing game together and went 2 up with wymondham getting a goal back we then went on to get 2 more to go four one up with a brace each from kev o and scotty and nice to see grumpy bloomfield back in the squad a good win !!! poringland next on tuesday and to cap a great day spurs stuff chelsea !!!!!!!!!!

on a wet and windy night at southwold corton were one down at half time after missing 4 goldenl chances and having most of the ball after a few stiff words at half time from the management corton turned the game on its head and scored 4 goals after a few changes . scorers were nathan 2 and kev and scotty with one each . not a classic game but job done !!!!!!!!

a two two draw with bungay after being with 10 men for 75 mins didnt help our cause after going 2 up with 2 well taken goals from man of the match richie high and a mirgo volley we then gave 2 goal away with school boy defending very disappointing . i cant fault the teams great effort with 10 men but we should have beat a very poor bungay team out of site . we have bottom of the league sole bay on tuesday !!! we need to win to keep 4th place

Great win at the weekend boys. Was fantastic to see the will to win from everyone, plenty of encouragement and no nagging which was good. Hope those who went to the dogs don't feel too ill still or lost too much money.
While I understand your frustration Bob, is there no way we could have another big push for training as I think last two weeks have just been off weeks?

Kevvy, not wanting to add fuel to the fire but you turned up late had a back rub (even though you haven't got a back problem) for about 1/2 an hour done a bit of running about and thats about it. I put my heart and soul into that training session, you can be so hurtful!!

true he was my mistake!!!! but nearly all the people i listed havent been seen at training for a long while and i question peoples commitment also if we get promoted more players will want to join and i think this season is a big thing for the furture of this club .

just been on wells site and checked out some nice pictures from when we beat them 3 -2 at there place

good result for first team worked hard second half and after 2 changes on the pitch we had that extra commitment to win the game . the ref made some basic mistakes when playing the advantage but for once it all came our way in the end .

only 13 turned up for training with the res in 3rd in there league and first team in 4th in there league and pushing for promotion i just cant understand why people are not coming to training . can some one put the answers on this site because i am getting concerned cheers no2

saturday ended in a disappointing 2 - 2 draw. on the balance of the first half if we were a bit more clinical in front of goal the game should have been out of sight. we allowed ourselves to be over run with long ball tatics in the second half. again a chance early on whch produced a good save from the hindringham goal keeper could have changed the outcome of the game our dead ball deliveries could have been better especially with the amount of free kicks in a stop start game. a chance late on cleared of the line summed up the day 2 points dropped

was helping with the res today wasnt pretty to watch our defending was shocking not a good day nice to see fletch back good result for first team see you all tuesday
